We are losing the excess left and right over here! We said bye bye to our cleaning lady this week! We can now put that $120 a month savings into our house fund.
After the birth of my second child, I asked my husband if we could get someone to help us clean the house since I was going to be heading back to work after my maternity leave. Don’t get me wrong, we still had a ton of the normal daily cleaning to do, but with working full-time outside the home and a husband who works a ton of overtime, I just needed help with my hard wood floors (which are a nightmare to keep clean, by the way), and my bathrooms (my least favorite room of the house).
So, for the past year and a half, we have enjoyed a little extra help in the cleaning department that has been much appreciated. We temporarily thought that the benefits far outweighed the cost. That is, until now…when every penny counts (didn’t it always?). Anyway…back to the point…
We have been putting our monthly budget through the sieve every month to find places where money is leaking. This was one area that my husband and I both knew had to come to an end. So, with a month’s notice, we said bye bye to our beloved cleaning lady and hello to putting $120 a month back into our pockets!
The only thing left is wondering why we didn’t do this sooner!
We are learning! That’s what it’s about…learning and applying. Can’t wait to see what’s next on the budget chopping block!
